Let all those who take refuge in you [God] be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. Psalms 5:11

Bobby Michaels joined us for Sharathon '08 and he read an article about a martyred pastor from Zimbabwe. He read this on the air during the last day of Sharathon, Thursday the 18th of September. Here is a powerful part of the letter from this pastor who lost his life for his beliefs in our God:
"One young Zimbabwean pastor was martyred for his faith. Among his papers, this note was found:
I'm a part of the fellowship of the unashamed. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I'm a disciple of His and I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still.
My past is redeemed. My present makes sense. My future is secure. I'm done and finished with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap living, and dwarfed goals.
I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don't have to be right, or first, or tops, or recognized, or praised, or rewarded. I live by faith, lean on His presence, walk by patience, lift by prayer, and labor by Holy Spirit power."
Several people called in asking for this powerful letter and thanks to the internet, now you can read it all online. To read the full article online, go to the link for the Reaching Souls International E-Newsletter. Scroll down to the Zimbabwe Report.

Access Washington
Posted Sep. 4
Washington State lawmakers have created a new website that helps organize all the resources that are available to people of the state.
It's called Access Washington. The website has all different kinds of categories to help consumers.
State leaders want this site to help people make more informed decisions about insurance, child care, financial matters, health care, home care, licensing and all kinds of other areas.
Officials with the Department of Information Services helped make this site possible. Representative Marko Liias of Mukiltea is the bill's sponsor.
He said, "This is a thousand times better than what existed before. It's just one stop, a consumer can go there and it's organized by subject area... It's just clear and understandable."
The site is an effort to create a place for consumers to go to get safe and reliable information.
Marriage expert and comedian Mark Gungor explains the difference between men and women's brains. He's the guy who's doing some marriage seminars for Positive Life Radio in September. You can find out more by checking out the Events part of our webpage.

Two teenage boys trapped for several hours under ice and snow after an ice cave collapsed on top of them have been rescued near Snoqualmie Pass and are now in Satisfactory condition.
King County sheriff's spokesman John Urquhart says the teens are suffering from hypothermia. He said the 14-year-old rescued first had serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The 17-year-old rescued next was still being evaluated. After a few surgeries (mostly for back injuries) both boys are officially in "Satisfactory" condition.
A Navy helicopter was called to fly the boys to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Rescuers used chainsaws to cut through blocks of compacted snow and ice to reach the boys.
The teens were hiking with their mothers and two other girls when they were trapped at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

Multi-Tasking Men Survey
Posted May. 19
Here are the survey results:
Is it possible for a man to multi-task?
No 41.7:%
Yes 60.4%
If you think it's even possible for a man to multi-task, can a man who doesn't currently multi-task be taught?
No 46.8%
Yes 53.2%
Gender Affiliation of people taking survey:
Women 60.4%
Men 39.6%
Additional Comments:
1. I think that men were created by God to be able to focus on single tasks (at one time). That doesn't mean that it is impossible for men to multi-task, it just means that they are better at doing one thing at a time.
2. I have many guy friends who try to multi task...they can do it on their own will power, and the only question it raises in my mind is the quality and efficiency at which the tasks are being managed. Scientific studies have been noted with results on this matter to show that while a man can multitask, he cannot do it as well as a woman, and thats just how God designed it. :D
3. Men can multi-task, but it is more difficult at home. I am a teacher, so I deal with students all day. Boys do have a harder time with multi-tasking, but they can learn to do so if instructed. My husband is a working shop foreman, so he needs to monitor other workers in addition to completing his own work. That was quite an adjustment, but he is doing the job with ease now. Just don't ask him to multi-task at home after doing it all day. He needs some down time!
4. I once took a certified 911 dispatcher pre-test as part of a college class. Of the class (~100) I received the highest rating for the guys, somewhere around 50% and I think that the lowest score for the gals was about 50% as well. My understanding is that because women tend to be wholistic in their thinking they are able to process multiple pieces of information at one time, whereas guys tend to be categorical thinkers, each piece of information needs to be processed individually. Is one better than the other...no not really, it's just that it comes more natural for a woman. Ultimately, anybody can multi-task, you just have to recognize how you personally think and process then run with it.
5. Men have been multi-tasking since the beginning. Take a look at men from ancient times to those before this modern era and you'll be surprised at the many things they were able to do and be. It's true women apparently have to be multi-tasking because of the many things nature and life request from them. We have to understand that men and women are complements of each other, meaning they perform different activities to complete a whole. For different reasons, I've seen that what made those men great, that spirit of manhood, and the things that were available to them are not present or happening nowaday in this modern era, thus turning us men into passive beings, laying in the hay and letting women take the lead. It's like saying there's stuff for women to do but not many for us. Fatherless risen boys is another factor to consider. Only a man can impart manhood to a boy, not his mother no matter how good she teaches him. In all, I think we are just unmotivated (just take a look at the percentage of men that have answered this survey), but I do believe we are still capable and that God designed us to be these great men we once were (minus the abuse and disregard women suffered).
6. I think that multi-taking, like driving and using a cell phone, is not really good. Split attention really does not allow good focus placed on the projects at hand.
7. We learned in church just this past week, that during the last week or so in the womb, the male brain is "washed" with testosterone. Prior to this, both the female and male brains have multiple "bridges" back and forth between the two parts of the brain. After the testosterone wash, the bridges in a male brain are reduce to only one. That's why women can multi-tax and men find it difficult.
8. Even a monkey can be trained! LOL
9. Just answer yes, nod or say 'hmm' to every question that they (women) ask.... It works for me most of the times....however, it's not always fun when they figure that out....
10. My husband is a phenomenal multi-tasker, especially in the kitchen. He has successfully prepared 4-course meals for large groups of people (in our church, at home, etc), always having it deliciously prepared and in place on time! He's a better multi-tasker at home than I am.
11. We can all learn to get along with the majority, of how people do things, but there is peace in order and structure. This is my preferred way of doing things-although I have seen men multi-task, it has only been while they are at work, deep into a project, but even then they are focused, although the task at hand varies. I enjoy Girdner's theory of multiple intelligences. It takes individuals out of the stereotypical learning box, and frees them to honor their personal intelligences. I like to mix his theory up with the birth order theory, and the right brain, and left brain theories.
12. I think that multi-tasking has a lot to do with mind interation. The severity of the task is also a factor in multi-tasking. A person man or woman is able to multi-task as long as focus is maintained.
13. God designed us with a single purpose thought process, so we can stay very focused on the task at hand, so we can complete it in a timely manor with perfection, or something like that. Uh-Rah.
14. Men cannot and can NEVER multi-task. It's a girl thing.
15. I saw a science program that said 2 tasks at once is the most that can be done at one time decently more than that and the quality drops off badly. It said it made no difference man or woman inspite of what most woman proclaim, it's a human brain thing. Do more than one thing at once and quality goes down. I worked at a radio station for a time, and I know you as a DJ are constantly multi-tasking.
16. The best you can hope for is that they don't spill their drink while watching the ballgame!
